 eCommerce (PIDX/B2B)

Goldman-Sachs estimates widespread application of e-procurement could save industry $10 billion to $20 billion per year. Application of business-to-business (B2B) integration can include order management and inventory replenishment functions, providing 360 degrees of visibility around a company's supply chain - customers and suppliers. Historically, the cost of B2B integration has been a significant barrier to large-scale integration with trading partners and has been prohibited to smaller entities. E-commerce communication standards have helped, but these alone are insufficient to capture potential value. Enterprise Enabler makes integrating between trading partners economically feasible, while supporting standards like PIDX and RosettaNet. Some of the sources of value from applying Enterprise Enabler's unique technology include…

  • Enables rapid implementation, based on the petroleum industry data exchange (PIDX) standard
  • Automates and streamlines workflow processes
  • Provides a 360 degree view of supply chain
  • Decreases paperwork and increases accuracy/productivity

  • Faster financial settlement - lower DSO
  • Lower inventories
  • Minimize data entry errors
  • Greater customer satisfaction

Enterprise Enabler - Supporting E-Commerce in Oil & Gas

Enterprise Enabler provides for immediate, efficient, direct connection and collaboration between applications and businesses, which can be done in days rather than months within a trading community. Designed for scalability, projects ranging from small B2B integration pilot projects to enterprise-wide deployments can be implemented cost-effectively. EE-B2B is an e-commerce solution powered by Enterprise Enabler. It comes with a library of business process templates based on the PIDX standard. For example, Orders are validated and acknowledged within seconds while suppliers receive real-time confirmations of deliveries. For more information on the implementation of Enterprise Enabler at GE Oil & Gas see case study

Some examples of the applications of EE-B2B include…

  • Integrating the Buy-side
  • Integrating the Sell-side
  • Automating Data Integrity

E-Commerce integration software, automate streamline workflow processes

EE-B2B: Buy-side

Programs like Supplier-Owned and Management Inventory (SOMI) or Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) have been proven to reduce cost and free working capital. However, a barrier to comprehensive integration with the supplier community has been the expense of integration with legacy systems. EE-B2B makes integration with even those suppliers having legacy order management systems practical. The sourcing, or procurement function, can enjoy real-time visibility of raw materials and MRO items, while suppliers can more effectively manage onsite inventory positions.

EE-B2B: Sell-side

Lower manufacturing costs and inventories are potential sources of value through better forecast accuracy, realized by having visibility of customers' long-term forecast and inventory positions. This capability is achievable through B2B integration. Increased levels of customer service and customer loyalty may also be realized. However, integrating with multiple customers' order management systems can be problematic and expensive. EE-B2B facilitates connectivity with major ERP systems like SAP and Oracle, as well as with older legacy systems.

EE-B2B: Data Integrity, Robustness

Implementing e-commerce on either the buy-side or sell-side requires security, data integrity and accurate data entry. EE-B2B provides intelligent connectivity, sensing changes to the range and sources of data. EE-B2B provides the option of extracting information or posting it to any back-end system, ranging from QuickBooks to SAP, supported by EE-B2B's built-in capabilities like…

  • Data Transformation, (i.e. complex manipulation, conversion)
  • Review for Data Entry errors, (Detecting changes) and
  • Security (Auditing, Encryption/Decryption, Digital Certificates)

The data transformation engine, for example, can consolidate and transform data from multiple sources systems to multiple destinations. Inherent to EE-B2B is the ability to monitor data for acceptable ranges. Systems and data structures can also be monitored for change, notifying all stakeholders via email of potential impact to dependencies. These unique strengths of EE-B2B help to ensure the integrity and accuracy of e-commerce transactions. Robust auditing and encryption/decryption functions further support the individual security policies of each party.

EE-B2B: Automating Workflow

The existing e-commerce templates provided with EE-B2B may be easily modified using Enterprise Enabler's flexible process designer. This allows managers to change or add processes and information sources through a 'drag-and-drop' graphical interface. The process designer can also launch specified business processes, such as notifications and reports, based on events or conditions.
